This RCABC canoe instructors course covers the requirements for the Lakewater Instructor Basic and Advanced certification. Paddling experience is strongly recommended. This certification will develop your canoeing, canoe theory, canoe rescues, teaching methods, group management, and group safety skills. A 4 day Instructor Cinic is also being offered with prerequisites of having completed RCABC Basic and Advanced Tandem and Solo courses. Successful completion will allow the Instructor to teach the RCABC Basic and/or Advanced Tandem and Solo canoe courses. All canoeing equipment is supplied. All participants must become an RCABC Instructor Member ($65) prior to course start date and download (free) a copy of the Instructor manual. Basic course ($500) will run Mar 14/15/16/22, and Mar 30/31. Advanced course ($800) will run Mar 14/15/16, 22/23, and Mar 29/30/31.Instructor Clinic ($600) will run Mar 23/29/30/31. Join us for a FREE canoe safety clinic at Buntzen Lake (South Beach) on Saturday, April 5th, 2025 from 9am - 3pm. This clinic, led by certified RCABC instructors, will cover canoe safety and basic skills. Equipment is available to use or you can bring your own. This course is for teachers and people working with youth who are experienced paddlers. This course certifies instructors to teach RCABC Lakewater levels 1 and 2. This is a Lakewater Instructor Recert/IT Clinic on the first day of the PaddleFest. Open to LWI whose membership is current. Course time is 9:00-4:00. Pre-registration is required. Registration is available through the RCABC Paddle Festival page at bccanoe.com. Registration will open shortly. Please be prepared to paddle the tandem and solo circuits. We will meet in the camp parking lot.
